Hello all, new member here. I am looking for a cheap 4x4 vehicle for a project vehicle. I am new to this subject however, so I am not sure what constitutes "cheap" per se, but I was thinking $2,000 to $8,000? I noticed that the 2000-2006 Tahoes seem to be priced in this range. Was wondering thus if they make for good 4x4 project vehicles?

I know Jeeps are excellent too, but I wanted something bigger. I was originally thinking of the old K5 Blazers, but those seem to be priced in the same price range as 2000 - 2006 Tahoes, which has me confused. I figure though one would go with the newer vehicle, right? Or would the K5 be better for things like engine swaps and so forth?

Anything can make a good project vehicle. It's all in the eye of the beholder. I've known many people with these SUVS that build very capable trail rigs with them.
