Different provider for built in phone?

Is there a way to change the sim or something to hook into a different provider? (specifically ATT)... Or, is there a way to use hook your cell phone up to the built in mic and speakers?

You can't use a different service provider other than Verizon. As far as hooking up your existing phone, that may be possible, not sure.

Correct. With the Onstar phone, it is Verizon ONLY. No changing that.

The only thing that differs from that is if you add a Bluetooth module to sink your current cell phone to the audio system in some way OR buy an '09 or later which will have Bluetooth on some models. Regardless, the Onstar phone will remain and stick to Verizon.

We have AT&T for cells, but don't mind the Onstar Verizon, just an extra little side thing to have there.
