Recently bought an 03 Tahoe with 95k miles. While driving it the other night I noticed the DIC cycling through all the modes. I also noticed it was doing it in English, Spanish and French. I thought it was just showing off but then it stopped while displaying something in French. It was just a fluke I got it back to English.

It did it again last night while driving. I specifically looked at the voltmeter to see if the voltage was causing the problem but it was right where it belongs.

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks.
Jim

Driver information Center. They are in the 2003 and newer trucks, it displays information from vehicle stats to driver preferences.

yes its at the bottom of the instrument cluster, and its controlled by the steering wheel controls. You can pop that whole switch out and replace it if you thing it is sticking, I have heard the switches are pretty cheap

Decided to live with the DIC problems, until now. It's totally stuck just looping through the "Language" choice. No amount of button pushing makes a difference.
The local Chevy service writer thought maybe the Body Control Module (BCM) was to blame so I picked one up on ebay for $30. Even though I couldn't get the truck to start because of the passlock I could see the DIC was still stuck in the loop so I'm not even going to worry about reprogramming the new BCM.
A friend of mine has an Avalanche with the same problem and a repair shop told him they thought it was the instrument panel.
I'd really like to hear from someone that figured out this little problem before I go spending any more money.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Found a guy on e-bay that rebuilds GM instrument panels. He said the problem is in the dash. I sprang $200 for a rebuilt dash and it fixed the problem. Really cool, too because the panel he sent me looks brand new. He programmed in my mileage and hours. Now I have access to all the functions the DIC offers and they actually work. It was definately worth the money.
