If anyone can give me any ideas, I would apprecate it --- Here's what happened...

I'm doing about 70 mph down the freeway until I do a long, slow turn on a cloverleaf ramp. When I go to accelerate, ol' Red spits and sputters as if out of gas and then goes dead. I get her pulled over and eventually towed home.

I suspected the fuel pump right away BUT... when I turn the key I hear the pump. When I press in the center of the fitting that looks like a valve stem that is located in the fuel line in the engine compartment and my helper tries to crank her up, I get a stream of gas about a foot high! So the pump seems to be pushing gas out of the tank, past the filter, and right up to the engine compartment.

When I pour a little gas in the throttle body, ol' RED cranks and runs until the gas I put in is gone (about 5 - 10 seconds). So that should tell me my spark is good.

Can anyone suggest as to what to look for next?

Thanks so much !

So you have pressure at the fuel rail, but it will only start if you pour a little gas into the tb, right? Sounds like fuel is getting to the injectors but not through them. Check to see if the injectors are actually operating and the fuse(s) for the injectors.

Take a fuel pressure check at the rail. The fuel pump might not be providing enough pressure to open the poppets. The Vortec's are very sensitive to fuel pressure. Should be ~60+ pounds, key on/engine off. Running at idle, should be ~55 pounds.
