they dont light up in park. if its in drive that they dont light up, then maybe the bulbs are out. Also (i dont know if your 01 is like mine) 05 und up (maybe even earlier models) you can shut off the daytime lights with the headlight switch by turning the knob to the left once during the day (while in gear)

Its quite simple. There are 2 "L" shaped pins holding the headlight assembly in plce. Remove those pins and remove the headlight unit. (If you have someone helping you, you dont even had to unplug the headlights.) The DRL/Parking Lamp assembly is snapped in place. Look at it closely once you've removed the headlight assembly aside and you'll see what i mean. Unclick it and it comes out. The bulb should not be a problem from here.

The 2001-2006 GM big body SUVs and Trucks all have a problem with at least one of the running lights not working, its kind of strange that GM hasn't recalled it... It looks like you got them (or at least one) to work, but for future reference sometimes they won't come on until you take the parking brake off. :Chevy:

I have the same problem on my 1996 tahoe this morning they stop working even if the truck is on drive without the emergency brake on too, I have to used the dome override switch on the left side of the dashboard to make them come on, what could be the problem :umn:
