Hey fellas. A couple of questions about the tune from, let's say, Black Bear, since that's probably what I'd get. Okay so you do the thing where you collect data from your truck...

Would you need to update the tune if you added any of the following mods:

1. CAI
2. Cat Back system
4. Headers (maybe)
3. Larger tires with a lift (Wanna go from the 31.5" or so Z71 tire to about a 33 or 33.5" with a 4' CST lift).

Would probably put the intake and catback on first, and the lift a little ways down the road, so it might be the tune in between those sets of mods. I know they update for free, but would rather get it right in one shot.

Also, what do you guys think about these things I'm hearing about GM instructing it's techs to search for evidence of aftermarket tunes regarding warranty work. Do you think they will find the lapse in history if you put the stock PCM back in? Thanks.

I would get all the mods done frist and then I would get the custom tune. Also there is a good "sticky" on warranty info.

Yeah, I read it and I know pretty well what their limits are in denying coverage, but I saw on another site that they're instructing the techs to look for modded pcm's, and that only recently they can always find evidence, and that if they do they'll cut off probably as much of your drivetrain warranty as they can get away with. I have a hard time believing that an optimized tune is gonna kill internal parts, so I have a problem with them playing this way. And I really want a tune. Also, anyone have an idea about how far they will go to cancel suspension warranty (on GM parts) if they see you rolling in with a 4' CST lift? And if you have a shop install it, what kind of warranty do you usually get out of them? Thanks...

I had a 90 day warranty on my suspension lift/aligenment. Rancho has a life time limited warranty on thier suspension products plus my buddy works at the shop that did my lift so that not a problem.

I'm pretty sure your suspension warranty from gm is voided as soon as you install that lift. as far as power train I would not worry about it. I went with a Jet peformance stage 2 pcm module "plug and play" if I have to go to the dealership all you have to do is unplug it and your good.
