cracks in cap?

anyone ever hear of internal cracks in distributer caps, have 96 Tahoe was stumbling at 45 sat for about ten days in cold weather snow etc now cranks but won't start, small pops from under hood any ideas?

Yes to your first question. And the problem can also be fuel related. Check for spark, fuel, and compression, just in case you broke a timeing chain.

put in a new cap fired right up no more stumble runs like a dream, the old cap looks perfect you would never think it was bad, dry as a bone too. thank goodness it was only that sure would not want to do a fuel pump in this weather!
