I drive an 05 Yukon Denali with the 6l V8. This is said to have the 26 Gallon tank, but I have never put more than 23 in it at a given time.

Anyway, my DIC tells me for example that I’ve used 17 gallons, but then the pump tells me that I just pumped 20 gallons in… It was always a half to one gallon of, but 3 off?? This issue has only happened recently, but if that is off, then my MPG’s it reads are off. Today my gauge is below a fourth of a tank, but my fuel used only says 16.2, with 257 total miles, at 15.6mpg… Range says 64 left.. with a 26 gal tank?? That’s some fuzzy math.

My DIC is always dead on when I fill up, I usually fill up when it says I've used 24.0 gallons and unless I top it off it is always exactly what the DIC says. But, the gas light comes on and the needle is in the red area when it says I've used 22.5-23 gallons. I guess thats to give you a little cushion in case you get into a bind and can't get to a gas station, so I think the gas gague is supposed to read a little less than you actually have below a half a tank, that's how it was on our 2003 Z71 also.

I got my 2005 Denali about a month ago and I am toooo afraid to let that little lady go past of the way before I top off with the prices as high as they are. Then again, I have done any long distance travelling in her since either ... pray my strength. :D

It hurts but you'll get used to it. I filled up the Z71 four times this week because I was on the road every day and all of them were over $105.
