I just bought this winter vehicle and now know why it was cheap. When driving along I can loose all electrical power- the engine dies, dash is dead, all lights are gone, all window and door stuff quits. After sitting a while- it comes back on and runs great-till next time. Every once in a while it will blow the 40 amp fuse at STUD 1 at under hood fuse box. Now found out it also supplies power to air compressor for Load Leveler. Very confusing as I could move along and all of a sudden everything would shut down-no lights, dash gauges, engine. I'm thinking it is probably my air compressor drawing heavy power or shorting and then causing the BCM to cut everything off. Will check that out tomorrow with my handy multi meter. Any insight is welcome. By the way, I finally found all the information on wiring diagrams one would want to know at the Autozone site. They have a help section that lists just about every diagram on our vehicles, including the Serial Data Links (SDL) It was there I found there was more than the trailer plug on that fuse.

Problem solved- I finally took it to GM Dealer as nothing was making sense. They diagnosed a shorted out underhood fuse box, also highly recommended I change the location of the trailer power wire off of the connection of battery to fuse box. Got it home and removed the whole fuse box and started metering it out. Found battery connection was on wrong connector, it was on the lug 1 outlet to the trailer. All the power for the truck was being supplied backwards through the Lug 1 40 amp fuse. Found correct spot for battery connection around side and all is well. The whole bus is powered and it has not had a problem in 4 days including starting at -30C.
