Cold Start Delay. Did Fuel Pressure Regulator or new MFI injectors fix this for you?

I've got a 1998 2DR Tahoe V8 350 5.7L with 185k miles. If it has sat overnight it seems to have some trouble starting. It cranks hard and turns many times before the engine runs. I have noticed that if I turn it to the on position and engage the fuel pump for a second it fires right up during cold starts. If the engine is warm it starts right away without having to pause it on the "ON" position.

The Tahoe has no codes and has no problems with misfiring or rough idleing. It has Brand new Delco Wires, Plugs, Distributor Cap, Rotor, Battery, Battery Cable, Starter, Alternator, Fuel Pump Relay and Fuel Filter. The Fuel Pump was replaced by the dealer back in '07.

My guess is while sitting for awhile Fuel Pressure must be leaking somewhere therefore making it harder to start. It could be a faulty Fuel Pressure regulator (which has never been changed) or the stock fuel injectors with the poppets.

Has anyone had the same issue as me and replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator and that solved their problem? I'm looking at upgrading to the Delco MFI (multi-port fuel injectors) since I would have take off the upper manifold to get to the FPR anyways. Or did the new MFI injectors fix it (since it has a new FPR)? It's possible I could have a leaky injector but I haven't had any misfires.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need more info. Thanks in advance!

I finally got this figured out. It was caused by a faulty fuel pump. The one-way valve on the fuel pump was not working properly allowing gas to leak back into the tank. Luckily, I had the fuel pump replaced by the dealer once already and it had a lifetime warranty so they replaced it for free.

Getting them to honor the warranty wasn't so easy at first but in the end they did.

Regarding the MFI injectors anyone do the upgrade and notice a difference? My stock injectors work great but I'm considering replacing them since my vehicle has 185k. My mechanic has told me that they aren't needed on my vehicle since they work perfectly but of course he would be happy to do it if I wanted it done. Thoughts?
