I have a 2010 with 5.3, I had an 05 as well. The 05 had a huge air induction system that the cold air intake replaced and it was certainly worth it. So I look under the hood of my 2010 and the air intake is designed more like the K&N cold air intake. Obviously doesn't have same filter.

Just wondering with the new design, will I get an more power or mileage by changing it.

If some of you think it is worth it, which ones would you recommend?

Also, anyone change the programmer?

Thanks for any info

Depends on the style of intake you get. The problem with "cold air intakes" is that some of them just have a filter on the end of the intake tube and the filter sits in the engine bay. Therefore the only air that it gets is the hot air that is trapped under the hood. Now if you can get a cold air intake that actually has the hot engine air blocked off somehow and uses actual "cold air" from say the wheel well or the front of the radiator, then yes I would say that it would be worth it. Did that make any sense at all??

As far as programmers go, yes I would recommend getting one. I havent actually ever used one but I just spoke with a friend of mine who had a really good one and he said he loved it. I am looking into getting one myself just havent decided on which one yet.

See attached website. This is the style I was talking about. You will see that it is "enclosed" therefor not using dirty, hot underhood air.

As far as the programmer goes i believe it was similar to this one...

Hope this helps!

After Checking out numerous intakes I decided on the aem one. I may be Partial because it was the 3rd aem one ive purchased. It has a metal devider box to isolate the filter from hot air. Got mine for $235 Canadian. Best good intake for the price IMO. Very complete kit for a quick seamless install... Took about 30 minutes to install.
Worth it alone for the sound it makes...

i bought a volant intake for my 2011 tahoe, and have been impressed with it so far. pulled about 5,000 lbs at 70mph into the ozark mountains, and still got 11 mpg. next, will be the magnaflow exhaust and a custom tune from my neighborhood friendly chevrolet dealership..
