Twice in the past 2 weeks the check engine light has come on in my 07 Tahoe LTZ. Both times it has happened when my gas gauge was just at 1/4 left. The frist time the light went out within 24 hours after filling tank. Tried all steps listed in owner's manual but no quick fix. Has anybody had this experience?

This is my 3rd Tahoe and by far the best one yet!!

Check Engine Light Update

Took 07 LTZ to dealer to look into check engine light. Turns out catalytic converter needed to be replaced. Only have 800 miles! Service manager indicated he has seen this on at least 3 other untis in past 6 months. Other than this issue the vehicle is outstanding in every other way. Just hope this was an anomaly.

The check engine light is sensitive to too many things to list. If it keeps coming on then take it in while it is still under warranty, could be minor, could be major.

For those that might be interested a tool called Auto tap is worth its weight in gold. Works with all OBD II systems from 1996 and up. The only area it cant obtain info on is SRS and ABS systems. Download software to your laptop and you're ready to go. It will allow you to connect with onboard computer, and diagnose the issue at hand. It will also give you the liberty of turning off the lights which may have been triggered,(except with SRS & ABS ). I have it now about a year and I am very pleased with it. Check engine light on? This will tell you why. I find it very handy in the shop also. Saves numerous trips to various dealerships. Most recently an 07 Hyundai Tuscon had the Check engine light on . Plugged it in and I see it was triggered due to a problem with the incoming air temp sensor. Cant get hurt with this system.
