Hey, does anyone know or tell me how to get to the drl's by taking out the housing or in anyway for that matter?

Assuming your '05 is the same as an '03...
You'll have to remove the headlight assembly first. There are 2 pins at the top of the hadlight assembly. Rotate them and pull them out. Once they are out the headlight assembly can be pulled out. The bulbs and wiring are still attached so be careful. Once it is out the sidemarker/turnsignal/DRL assembly can be removed. There is a clip on the assemble behind the turn signal housing that you will need to press towards the outside of the vehicle. Once you do that the entire assembly will pull out. Again, be careful as the bulbs and wiring will still be attached. The remove the plugs for the bulbs just twist and pull out. Just FYI, all of this info is in your owner's manual in the Service and appearance section.
FWIW I just removed the DRL bulbs from my Tahoe as they kept burning out or intermittently stopped working. So now I don't have DRLs and haven't had any other issues by leaving the bulbs out.
