Hello...

I did a quick search with no luck...

Can a private citizen buy a brand new Tahoe Special Service Package vehicle? Not the 2x4 pursuit Tahoe, the 4x4 Special Service Package.
I know you couldn't buy a Brand new ford police interceptor but what about the Tahoes?

Now I want to clarify... I don't want to drive around in a "Police" Tahoe. I'm looking to buy the Special Service Package for the 4x4 and the the heavier duty suspension, transmission, and oil cooler... Basically I want the heavy duty bits and pieces and keep the civilian appearance.

I do allot of driving and I also live on a less than perfect 3 mile dirt road that winds up a mountain in the Rockies and I just want a robust vehicle. I used to own a Ford police Crown Vic and the thing was bullet proof.

Thanks for the help

can u buy SSV?

current chevy rules is that nobody, unless you are using the SSV or PPV for police duty work, can purchase one. i just got my 12 tahoe SSV two weeks ago, but i am a reserve police officer in texas and will eventually outfit it, if i dont sell it first. thinking i may want a fully loaded tahoe to outfit. this is my 3rd tahoe in 3 years, but i currently have a 1500 silverado as my patrol car.

I can second that. I tried. However, with a GM fleet account and yearly purchases, your dealer will get you one.
I did not qualify, so the dealer found me a demo with 5k miles.

A friend of mine bought a new one with GM fleet acct. his company buys 20 vehicles a year, so the dealer bent the rules for him.

I just purchased one for my personal vehicle - but I am full-time Law Enforcement.

As far as I heard, the rules are pretty strict for new purchasers - have to be verifiable Law Enforcement or a Governmental Agency.
