Hi, fixed the coolant leak, now onto another issue.

The Fuel pump went out a few years ago and in doing so caused the relay to overheat. I'd changed the relay a few times thinking that was the issue but it was the pump putting undue strain on the relay causing it to heat.

Now my problem is that the fuse box where the relay goes in has gotten warped at the hole for pin 30. So even a new relay doesn't help. bending the pins helps for a while but they eventually wiggle lose and the car dies or doesn't start.

I can wiggle the relay while someone cranks the engine and it will make a connection and start up. Definitely not dependable way to go.

so, can I replace the wire connections in the fuse box or since the plastic is melted do I need to replace the whole fuse box or whatever it's called?

If so, where can I buy one, how much do they run and how hard is it to do?

if I were to search for such a thing what is it called so I can look?

Attached a pic I found that looks much like what I have going on.

You need a standard automotive SPST relay and socket (with wires), you can just cut and splice the new relay socket into the wires for the pump and mount it next to the relay box on the fender or something....

I buy the relays with harnesses by the 5 or 10 pack off ebay or amazon for about $2 each.....

I highly doubt the fuel pump caused the socket to burn up, what usually happens is the connection is corroded or loose and the current draw thru the connection heats and melts/ burns.....

so in looking at some of the cheap ones on Amazon the reviews say they're rated for 40amps but the wiring on them is only rated for 10-15amps. would that be enough for a fuel pump?
