brake lights out II

both my brake lights are out ,but my middle brake light above the rear window is working,I tried new bulbs ,what else could it be if the middle btake light is working ! thanks Rob 96 2door

bad socket assembly. they do go bad on these trucks. check for voltage at bulb socket when the pedal is pressed. if not good, pull off electric connector at back of lamp assembly and repeat voltage check. if good, bad lamp assembly.

Bowhunter is right...
but also it could be a bad turn signal switch which tracing your wires in the engine bay.
They retail for anywhere from $250-350 at a parts store.
Do a search, the link and all. I found that turn signal switch from an S-10 will bolt right up. Its Cheap $60 and its improved design. You are able to adjust speeds while engaged in Cruise Control.

brake-lite

I my brake lights working without changing anything .I noticed them working yesterday ,and this morning they wer'e out,I looked under the back bumper by the trailing hitch and there were wires there that were not plugged together tight.I cleaned them up and used petroleum jelly and it seems to be working fine,thanx for all the help.
