Have a 07 Tahoe LTZ. The rear passenger speaker emits a hissing noise that is driving us nuts. The vehicle has been into the shop 4 times to solve the issue. It hasn't been resolved yet. Once the radio is off, the noise goes away but on rare occasion makes a hissing noise (when off) for a short duration of 3-5 seconds. I am hoping to assist the service department in resolving this small yet annoying noise. Any thoughts?

i remember in my 99 , that if i used a nextel, alltel, verizon, or sprint phone that it would make the radio hiss like that, now i have chaged trucks and phones to ATT, so i dont know if they still do that on the new trucks, but about 3 seconds before the phone rang the radio would start to hiss and i new i was getting a call, kinda funny:crazy:

as i say this was my 99 not my 06, does it happen with the engine off, it may be engine noise coming in through, they might not be grounded( not sure of the techie term) right.

I agree and would look for a loose ground or flaw in the wiring, particularly since you at times hear it after turning it off.

The Bose systems have a multitude of amps connected to them. My old maxima had an amp at every speaker. Maybe it is an amp ground that isn't fully connected. Just my .02. I don't know if the speaker would even play if the ground is disconnected though.

There is ONE amp in this Bose system. It is under the console.
