which direction should i go. everytime i plug my inverter into the cigarette lighter with my laptop connected it blows the fuse. now this happens w/wo the engine running. does the alternator or batttery need to be replaced or is there a more sinister plot going on? on the other hand i have no problems when i hook it up in cadillac.

check to see what the rating on the fuse is you may have a smaller amp fuse in the tahoe than you do in the caddy ...Nothing is wrong with the alt or the battery the fuse is doing it's job. also check the cigarette lighter itself make it's not shorting out the line . A fuse will blow from either a short in the line or overloading it ... I have actually popped a fuse just buy pulling out my cell phone charger the wrong way .

Throw a bigger fuse in there. Should solve the problem. I wouldn't go too big though. Don't want to have a meltdown. When I bought my Yukon the fuse was blown and it took me three fuses before I realized that someone had shoved a penny in the far right plug. Problem solved.
