Nice... synthetics rock!~

I've been using Mobile1 on all our cars for yrs (buy them from costco)... w/ oem or other high quality oil filters. For gear / tranny / ATF's ... I've been using Redline, Motul, or Amsoil, and they have always performed well. The best thing w/ synthetics is when you open up the diffs, engines, etc. yrs down, the line... they still look like new... unlike dino oils where it stains and varnish more often. PLus they can uisually handle higher temps before breakdown.

How did you do the torque converter?... did you have a flush machine hooked up?

for the entire tranny to be swapped out you gotta take the beast to a local lube shop (jiffy lube) and I had to pay 60 bucks so they would hook up the machine, completly flush out the old crappy stuff, then pump in the Purple Power....and boy is it the ****!!:lol:

12 quarts is what you will need. got it off ebay for 108 shipped to me door. :smilielol: saved me 82 bucks from bumper2bumper or autozone...new tranny filter too or else you just wasted your time.

****:Chevy::gey:.....thats what I get for posting b4 the dam job is done.... did some research and found out jiffy lube, lube pros, and all those dumb ****s dont, cant replace all the fluid because they cant mess with tranny pans..Not only that but all the dumb****s I talked too at all those prementioned stores seem to be complete #%#$^#$ Morons!!:iagree::10s: make a long story short my tranny filter, gasket and a whole dam case of the Purple is just sitting on my mantle waiting for me to get it going. Might have to do this job myself.

Anyone know if the tranny on a 97 or should I say the torque convertor has a drain plug? thanks

Hey Bigg... if you already noticed some gain on your low-end... even before using the purp... don't bother putting it in... Let me borrow it... I want to put it on my mantle too. I need some low-end improvement too... ;oP haha... anyway, let us know how things go when you do get it in there.

As for changing the ATF in the converter...

-some other forums talk about disconnecting the ATF cooler lines (from the radiator... or from external cooler), and start the engine to pump out the old ATF into a jug. as soon as it bubbles... then shut if off, and refill it manually through the other hose. Do this about 2-3 times and they say the fluid will be clean and bright. About 14-15 qts used.

-Another way to change ATF easily at home, is to just drain, change filter, and refill... then after 100 miles... or up to your next oil change, drain the fluid again (you added the drain plug on your ATF pan the first time...right?) and refill. Then do this one more time (3 time total) and they say your fluid will be very clean and bright. This should get the fluid in your coverter clean. (I did this on my '03 Accord at 50k miles... this method worked well, and easy. I actually noticed real improvement from the first initial drain/fill... the second time, I didnt feel any difference, but the fluid was very clean. I never drain filled the 3rd time)

-From what I've seen, some cars have drain plugs on the converters, and some have a window you can access to get to this converter drain plug... otherwise you have to remove the converter to access it. A nice shop manual may be able to enlighten you on this one.

Good luck!~
