Tired of FM transmitters! What is the best way to connect my iPod to my factory deck? It has the single CD unit with external cassette below? Prefer to be able to walk into the stereo shop and say, "do this......" and avoid the salesperson's opinion. Thanks! Doug

I did this with mine also. I bought the interface from Circuit city. It was priced at $70 but it rang up as $18 for some reason. It plugs into your factory stereo's CD changer input and it splits out to 2 sets of RCA jacks. Then you can buy the RCA to mini-jack adapter and hide the wires at your discretion. I installed the unit way up behind the radio. 1 cord goes to my Sirius satellite and the other can be plugged into my MP3 phone or the wife's Ipod. You use the CD changer controls to switch between sources and the factory auto volume still works! It was having some issues at first but I just had a loose connection. The car audio guys at best buy and circuit city here had no idea what I was talking about when I was asking where they were. I had to find it on my own in the car audio department. Just look for the GM specific one.

Saw the drive+play 1 on sale at Best Buy for $69. Cleaner look and more fun than just an FM transmitter. Love the new & improved 2, but not at $400! Still debating what to do....

In my opinion the best way would be to get the adapter that plugs into your cd changer or xm radio port. You would lose that port but gain direct connect for your ipod.

Yeah, I would never use the CD changer once I got my iPod hooked up. Let's see..... 70 songs, or 10,000 songs.... it's a tough choice.

Metra cable...

Well, I should have known this but... The only way this cable will work is to lose the XM radio. I have the GM radio with the built-in CD changer, so there's only one place on the back to plug in an AUX. Right now, mine's the XM radio.
I could use the iPod cable there, but I want my XM.:ack:

Soooo, I get to return the cable tomorrow.

Oh well. I'll try something else later on.

You could use an FM Modulator... $20 and it is a direct, in-line hookup through your antenna so its not a wireless broadcast that can lose signal. Easy to install as well... just my .02
