My 02 Tahoe battery, only a month or two old, goes dead after a day or two without driving.

I narrowed the cause down to the external amp -------- used a multimeter to check amp draw as I pulled fuses, and the amp was pulling a half amp all the time.

The internet has a lot of hits about this, but the solutions offered seem to be all over the map, from having the dealer re-flash the body control module, re-flash the radio, replace the amp, replace the entire audio system with aftermarket, ETC.

Is there a definitive answer as to what the failure mode of the external amp usually is, and what the fix is?

I searched the archives, but no real solid answers found.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

If the amp is always drawing a half amp, you pulled the fuse on it and the draw stops, there's your answer. A number of things could cause a draw inside an amp, but it's probably not worth paying to fix it after all the time put into it.
