Got a friend with a Tahoe 07 needs to install an additional battery to help with arctic conditions up here in Alaska. Being told that the cables are $90 apiece; two needed. One is for Ground, other is main power. Has someone done this before and has advice on the best way to do this without spending all that money for cables, esp the ground.

Thank you.

$90 for each cable:eek2:!?!? You can use 4 or 2 ga cable from a local stereo shop or order on-line; cheaper and better. The multi-stranded OFC type cable we use to power high current mobile audio equipment is good cable and will work perfect for this app. Just make sure it's a good brand to ensure it's true AWG size. All you need is whatever length to reach from one positive post to the other. Then the ground on both batteries can go to the closest point on the chassis. If you have a lot of added electrical equipment that you use while the truck is off, then I would suggest isolating the batteries with a battery isolator to prevent the main battery from draining below starting capacity. That way you won't get stuck with a dead battery and not be able to start the truck. Be sure the second battery is of the same type and capacity as the main battery.

Thanks for the response JK. I will see what can be done to make this happen. Great advice on the isolator, esp since there is an RV involved.
