Has anyone installed an auxiliary trans cooler? I haul a 5,000 trailer/car combo and would like to keep the trans cool. If you have installed one, what type and was installation relatively "ease"? My Tahoe is an 08. Thanks PondVu

I installed a Fluidyne HD trans cooler on mine. They make great aux coolers. If you are in the market for one soon, check out their site, as well as B&M. There are different sizes depending on the gvw and weight you'll be towing. The cooler you can keep the trans fluid, the better, so going a size or two over the minimum recommendation won't hurt at all. Fairly simple installation if you're any bit mechanically inclined. Just make sure all connections are very secure. There's a lot of pressure and you don't want to lose fluid from an inadequate hose connection.

depends on what makes one "better"....I know nothing about the B&M...the GM one comes with 2 new cooler lines so there is no cutting involved, bracket & cooler.
The GM one is a bit harder to install as the lines are quite tricky to snake around into position.

GMTech48 - Do you happen to have the part number for the trans cooler handy? I've come across a couple of different part numbers. I was going to get 12497071 but the dealer said that kit was only for the pickups. Then I found 19171483 on another site but I'm still not sure what kit is needed.

I have the factory one but I'm actually thinking about adding a second factory one, just don't want to block any more of the radiator's surface area than I have to. Does that sound crazy? Rather than adding one big one I just like the fitment of OEM parts...
