I don't know the technical details of the Bypasskits but of what I know, the newer vehicles have a computer which is the brain of the vehicle. When adding an aftermarket alarm you have to use a bypasskit or xpresskit for your aftermarket alarm and factory computer to work with one another.

I bought the Viper 5701 and I need two bypasskits, XK06 and XK01. I am not sure on which one you are going to need but I found the website and that ought to get you a step closer then where you are:

All you need for the 00-02 models is the Directed 556LW module.

You only need the XK01 on 03+ models. The XK06's primary function is to temporarily override PL, PK, and PK3+ immobilizers during remote start operation. The XK01 does the same thing as the XK06, PLUS controls the door locks, factory alarm/disarm, doorpin status output, and more via databus.

Yeah I thought that also based on the crutchfield website AND the Viper website. But when I called my installer he stated that he remembered putting on a couple of these and needed the XK06. He stated that he would check and call me back. Well I should note that it took me over a month to track him down (he's in MS and I'm in VA) and of course he never called me back even after I left several msg's advising that I was on Ebay and needed to know if I should bid.:mob:

Well I have both and one week from today I'm making that trip to MS which one of the first 5 stops will be at his shop. I guess I rather have and end up not using it then not having it and my Tahoe sitting in a shop for 2-3 days while he orders the part during the holiday time (probably wouldn't get there before christmas and if so cost me a heck of alot more then I paid for it).:au:
