Ok, this may be a weird question..I bought a 2004 tahoe in July, before this I owned a 03 yukon, and I loved it until someone stole it and wrecked it...anyway, I've had nothing but trouble with this thing, my biggest concern, it has an Astrostart in it,..I live in North Dakota, and the start works, but blows ice cold air until I get in and put the key in, and get it in motion, then I have heat!... Any thoughts?...thank you much!

Well for the most part chances are you have an aftermarket remote start in it and the HVAC controller is only getting the power from hot at all times circuit that will turn on the blower motor but thats it and nothing from the ignition voltage therfore the HVAC controller is not fully operational until you turn on the ignition once it gets a ignition power source then the temperature blend door actuator switches to the heat position

Auto start

I'm gonna have a guy look at it tomorrow to see if it is indeed the auto start..yesterday I went out and put the key in it, turned it over, let it warm up the ol fashion way, and it still blows ice cold air, UNTIL I put the Tahoe in motion. Now I'm confused!..

Ok heres a couple of possibilities... you either have a bad temperature door actuator or there's an air pocket in the cooling system and the coolant doesn't start circulating untill the rpm increase then the coolant starts to circulate thru the heater core.. are you aware of any possible coolant leaks because that can cause an air pocket in the cooling system

Im adiot.. dis regard my last post.. Hopefully I think this one will make more sense... first I do have to ask.. how cold does it get in SD is it possble that the truck isnt getting warm enough to open the thermostat just sitting at idle and its not reaching operating temperature until under a load in motion ? Once it is warm enouth the thermostat opens and you pee pee your pants from the nice warm air lol... see im in cali so sometimes I forget about how cold the weather can get in other areas doubt it has anything to do with the remote start

Lol

Believe it or not, I'm pretty sure it's the actuator, it runs 200-205 temp wise, so that's working..that friggin part is coded, so I'm guessing that is why my engine light came on...I'm gonna try that out first, if it's not it, I'm gonna put a mouth guard in, seatbelt on, and bury this sumbitch!!.im Chevy all the way, but this thing is junk!!..lol....I'll let you know the result...thx for the help!!

The temperature door actuator will not cause the check engine light to come on.. it will set a code in the HVAC module but will not cause check engine light... it may and or may not be but you can try it hopefully it will do the trick
