Another turn signal-brake light question and where's the main ground?

Hi,

Just found this forum and glad I did. I have a 99 tahoe 4dr 4x4 and I'm having some turn signal/brake light and HAD some issues with the trailer wiring harness (4-flat).

Ok it started with the right turn signal blinking too fast, ok got new bulb and fixed. Started again within a week, looks like a bad circuit board so fine, I'll get that as well in the next few days.

Just recently, the left turn signal started acting up, but, instead of blinking fast it blinks when the headlights are off, but sticks 'on' or 'off' I guess when the headlights are on? Crazy I can't figure it out either. Is there a main ground somewhere that's causing all these problems? Or a short somewhere but how do you find it?

Finally, when I had my previous vehicle, my trailer lights all worked. When I bought this the trailer lights didn't work (running lights). I spliced into another running light wire and got the trailer thing squared away.

So is it the rear/trailer wiring harness that's causing these headaches? Or the rear light circuit board (bulb holders)? Or both? Or what????

This is driving me frickin' nutz, any help greatly appreciated, thank you!

PS- I do have to tow so I can't just remove the rear 4 flat connector and wires.

does it only act up when the trailer is connected?

if all grounds check out then the problem could be the signal harness in the steering column that thing is known to go bad and it affects all lights.

No it's acting up with the trailer disconnected unfortunately. I need to figure out where all the grounds are and go from there. It's definately intermittent. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It really is driving me up the wall.
