We bought a high mileage '12 Yukon Denali, I noticed the battery gauge would bounce around in the 'acceptable' range. I took it into a Chevy dealership and they found the battery was only putting out about 400 of the 660 it was rated for, so they replaced it. Now a few days later, I noticed the new one was doing something similar now, however not as varied. I don't notice any dimming of lights or anything, but I've never noticed a car where the gauge varies so much.
