Hey All,
I have a 2004 tahoe that I have used to pull my horse trailer for the past several years. It hauls that great and I have never had ANY problems with that. The trailer is a steel 2 horse (~2500#) and I usually pull just one one horse (1300#) sometimes 2 horses, always does great, very stable. If I am going on longer hauls or interstate I use my Reese stabilizer hitch with sway bars/load leveler- it helps with the semis passing and all. But I still use just the regular ball with nothing quite frequently and its fine.

Last night I drove and hour to buy a camper trailer. Its 1982 18ft camper- tiny little thing and probably weights less than 3000lbs easily. I hooked it up and had no problems towning, we were going 70 no problem. Then all of the sudden the trailer starting swaying back and forth on the interstate. Holy #%$#%#^% that was scary! I was afraid to go to stop so I coasted it out and got OFF the highway ASAP!! And drove 45mph the entire 70 miles home! I had my sway bar hitch with me, but the ball won't screw in to that

Now I'm freaked out driving this and I was planning on moving to texas next week for a job, but there is no way I am driving that 4 hours like it is. Will the sway hitch make all the difference? Thank you!

well in california there is a reason vehicles that are towing are restricted to 55mph and not 70. but i would just check out the trailer there could be something that caused that. and just might need to be tightened. in any case the say hitch should make a diff even if you dont need it because of the weight
