The stock rear entertainment seems to sit flush on the ceiling. Mine didn't come with that option so in place it has a big hump in the ceiling where a light is installed. My question is when I take my Yukon to get the aftermarket TV installed will they cut out the hump or will the tv be installed at the bottom of that hump?

My guess would be it all depends on the quality of the place you take it to. I am sure you can attach it to the bottom of that hump but that would be, in my opinion, a piss poor install. As I understand and have witnessed, you want to take the headliner down and attach the unit to the body of the vehicle with some rigid attachments or the whole unit might come tumbling down as you hit a rough patch of road. These are just my $0.02 though. I am pretty sure it all boils down to the installer performing the task.

The right way would be to fab a bezel to the shape of the headliner. A good shop will do it this way. Whenever I install OH systems, I fab a shroud that contours with the headliner so it looks nice and clean like stock, or at least not out of place.

It's being done at the dealership so I'm guessing they will probably contract it out. I hope they do what you both said and attach to the body of the vehicle. Another concern is if they do install it on the hump the TV will be too low.

Best to make your wishes known before they ship it out. Once it's in, it's too late.

If you're taking it to the dealership, then it will be contacted to a local shop. Let them know exactly what you want and ask who will be performing the actual install to see if you can find out more info on the company the dealership uses.

So I took it in today to get the 8 inch screen installed. Well when they cut out the "hump" they realized that the hole in the headliner was now too big and the 8 inch tv unit would not cover it. Long story short they had to install the 10 inch model and eat up the difference. It came out really nice and the color matches the vehicle well.
