Hey guys, I have an 04 Yukon SLT with Bose (atleast my speaker grilles say Bose on them.) I read that Im supposed to have a sub in my center console, but I cant seem to find it. I dont know how i can miss a 8" sub in the center console unless it isnt there. I feel no vibration when a bass heavy song is on. Did some of the Bose systems ship with no subs? Will it be difficult to add an amp and possibly throw a sub in the cargo area where the 01 tahoe subs go? The mids and Highs sound fine to me, but i want a bit more lows. Any ideas?

In the 07+ the subs are in the forward section of the console (close to the dash). Hubby has Silverado w/Bose system and the console does not vibrate.

Amp and sub can be added...the what/where are just a matter of how much do you want to spend.

You have to take out the center console before you find the sub. It's at the very front. Back when I had mine, nothing would vibrate either while playing music. But don't worry, once you get some nice lows going, you will then think that your mids and highs suck in comparison haha. I can't wait to replace mine.

On 03+, there's a 6" sub in the forward portion of the lower center console. I have the stock enclosure from mine that mounts in the rear and houses an 8" sub. I'll let it go cheap if you wanna stop by and pick it up.

JK - PM sent.

Is it easy to wire in an aftermarket amp/sub to the stock stereo. I know it sounds cheesy, but i want a stock looking interior... So Im either gonna keep the stock headunit or find a factory nav unit. Im not big on stereos since every nice stereo i have had has been jacked! Kenwood, Alpine, Eclipse... stolen, stolen, stolen.

You will just have to buy line out converters, and wire them to your factory amplifier. That will enable you to run RCAs from your factory stuff to your aftermarket amps. You could always just buy a cheaper single-DIN reciever. Something like an Alpine ida x-200 is very cheap and isn't flashy at all when you take off the faceplate.

People have no idea what's in my car because I always remove my faceplate.

My big problem with stereos these days is that they are all so ugly! That alpine is no exception either. If i were to get an aftermarket HU it would definitely be a double din. I don't like the way a single din looks in the Yukon. i will just sit and wait til a killer deal pops up. Im in no hurry as I drive the Yukon about 500 miles per year anyway.

I'll agree that double-DIN is going to give you the cleanest look. But imo there is nothing uglier than the factory HU in these trucks. And a single DIN is going to look the same in alot of cars just like the Yukon, because the factory radios are huge in every car. Everyone who has gotten in my car loves the look and feel of my x-100.

if you dont want a navi. the Pioneer 8000 is a great double din option that looks factory (better) and has build in bluetooth, and all other sorts of cool stuff. Im thinking about one for the silverado.

i was going to get that pioneer f90bt. only thing i dont like about it is when it starts up, takes about 3-5 minutes for everyone ive seen. and the bluetooth calling seemed to take awhile to hang up after you were done.

if you shop around you can find them for about 570, dvd, nav, gps, bluetooth and ipod ready.

Pioneer has a new 2.0 version firmware update available that takes care of the slow start up process. With the new firmware, it only takes seconds rather than minutes.

Jk is right, the 2.0 software upgrade made the boot up time much faster. If I had to do it again I would pick the f-90 as well, just because it has 4 volt preouts.
