i just got it tonight. it's a little rough around the edges, but it's a diamond in the rough. she's been worked on a bit by previous owners too. first thing i notice is, when it gets to around 40 MPH, there is a loud hum noise. when i let off the gas, it stops, but as soon as i apply gas, it's there again. the last owner said it's the drive shaft?

second (but not last) question. the engine is a 305 (i'm told) but that wasn't an option, so it's been swapped in at one point. where can i find stock 1995 engine bay pics? i want to see just how much has been swapped (or not)

edit....title says it's a 1995. sorry about that

Yes the hum is proabaly a bad rear end. I would have that redone or get a remanufactured rear end, I had the same problem with a ford rear end, broke the drive shaft at the yoke, replaced the driveshaft but the rear end was shot.

asuming the engine is a 305, there is no telling the external difference, 350 and 305 are the same block. u will need to check the block casting #s to tell what it is. whats the 8th digit on your vin tag? that will tell u what engine it came with.

yea was gonna say, it would be pointless to dump a 305 in a tahoe, even tho it is the same block as the 350, the tbi 350 is sluggy
