When I turn on my A/C -- which isn't very often -- I hear a loud squeal/screech as soon as I hit the accelerator. This is only after the A/C is first turned on, and it makes no different whether I turn it on at start up or cruising down the highway, it still squeals for 3-4 seconds as soon as I punch the accelerator.
It had done this a few times, and then it went away. When it went away my A/C was no longer working. I noticed the A/C belt had broken. It snapped right in half, but there was no other wear on it.
I put on a new (Goodyear Gatorback) A/C belt, which has held up well. But, I still hear the squeal.
Has anybody else experienced this?
Could I have a bad compressor?
Or...maybe the A/C clutch?
Or...A/C clutch bearings?
Thanks!
