98 Yukon service engine soon light

Hi, my sevice light just went on, do you know what kind of car reader I should buy, and how much they cost.thanks in advance

i take mine up to auto zone whenever my light comes on, they can scan anything 96 or newer i think, and it is free.

Any of the major stores, Autozone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly's, and probably others, will read your codes for free.

Thanks for the info, I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and it hasn't come back on. We don't have Auto zone or any of those other places here, but maybe Sears or Pep Boys will do it, if it happens again.
