98 Tahoe 4wd Issues!!!

Started out taking it to dealer..they told me it was the 4wd actuator.orderd the actuator and 2 days later installed it. didnt work. I then found out about the encoder motor and the encoder switch. The encoder switch cannot be purchased alone , so I had to purchase the whole encoder motor.
Installed this and my 4wd is still not engaging. I can hear the encoder motor working , my lights on the dash still flash. So i tried replacing the dash switch.
Still nothing...
$100 for the actuator
$700 for the encoder motor
$70 for the dash switch..
I feel like i just wasted a bunch of money...
Checked all my wire and they all seem to be good.
Help Please!!!!

Seems a lot of people are having 4WD problems. Of course this is the kind of thing that goes out when you need it most.

I just posted a document in the Troubleshooting section about diagnosing 4WD problems that might help.

I think this year I will test it before winter.
