Hi everybody. Just need to offer a quick disclaimer for this post- I know just about nothing about cars, which is why I'm here in the first place. My apologies.
So I have a '97 Chevy Tahoe with 267,000 miles on it. Its a great car in many ways, and I want to keep it as long as I can. Unfortunately, last summer it started being fussy about shifting out of Park. I've coped for the last six or so months by shifting into neutral before starting the engine, and then shifting into gear. My big question here is whether or not this is a transmission issue, and how serious it is. If it is a serious problem, is it something I can maybe fix myself, or for less than a thousand dollars? Or should I just start looking for another car?
