well guys... I think my Tahoe is just about dead. I changed the oil 2 weeks ago. I've only had this truck for a little over two months and I have always had a little smoke come of the the tailpipe, after all is does have 230,000 miles. However, after noticing that the oil pressure was running a little on the high side, I checked the oil and to my dismay it was barely touching. I use Castrol High Mileage 10w-40.

I've noticed no oil leakage from up under the truck. I guess my question is, "Where is the oil going?" I only put roughly 75 miles since I changed the oil.

Thanks for you help!

What color is the exhaust? Blue-gray?

Sometimes it's a breather/PCV problem. Since it's the cheapest, I'd start with a new PCV valve. Take it out, shake it and see if it rattles. Either way, spend a few bucks and put a new one in.

How do the spark plugs look? Is there oil on them?

With 230k on the engine, it could be valve guides/seals or piston rings...a mechanic would be able to diagnose it for you.

Good luck, hope it doesn't get too expensive for you.

Constant bluish smoke usualy means worn rings. Oil seeps past the rings and into the combustion chamber, gets burned and out the tail pipe it goes.
If it smokes only on start up, then more than likely the valve guide seals are worn.
If you've only put about 75 miles since the oil change and your already low, then it's probably your rings, oil scraper, etc are worn and the oil is seeping past and getting burned. Time to rebuild or install a new short block.
