Found a wrecked tahoe, 2000 5.3L v8. Would like to swap into a 68 camaro as an LS1, is this doable as far as the motor goes?

What is the motor code on a 5.3L?

How is it different an LS1?

Can it is be bored/stroked out the same as an LS1 can?

Is the block aluminum or iron?

What is required to turn it into an LS1?

Also any other info on that motor would be nice.

The LS1 is aluminum block and the 5.3 is iron.
The LS1 is 5.7L and the Tahoe is 5.3L.
It probably simple to bore it out to 5.7 but if your going for power i'd bore it up to 6.0L
Not sure about the rest of the questions but the biggest difference is weight, because the 5.3 is Iron and the LS1 is Aluminum.
Best bet might be to get a ls1 off ebay with or without a tranny.

Also, the LS1 has 6 bolt splayed mains, which makes it a much stronger block. For a high rev, high hp application like in a lighter vehicle such as a sports/muscle car, an LSx block/intake would be better. The intake design on the 5.3 truck motors focus more on tq rather than higher rpm hp. I'd definitely either look for a different intake system or start right off with an LSx motor. Plus, like stated above, you have the benefit of a lighter block.
