I'm looking to purchase an 07+ Tahoe and everything I've been reading says to stay away from the 4 speed and get the 6 speed which rules out any of the cheaper trucks in 07-08. I've never driven one with a 4-speed, the 6-speed I test drove was great just like everyone says.

I can probably save 6-10k by going with an 07-08 with higher miles I just don't know if that 4 speed will ruin it for me...

What's the general consensus?

if you dont mind feeling the shifts its fine...the 4 speed automatic reminds me of some of the auto shifting manuals out there....the shifts are noticeable and not what one would call smooth...kind of like what we were used to years ago...

not an issue for me but i'm sure youre going to get some strong comments....

I've got an 07 Yukon XL with 115,000 on the 4speed. I can feel the shift, but I wouldn't say it's more noticeable than any other vehicle shift. It would be nice to have those extra gears, especially towing, but the 4 speed isn't horrible.
