4.8 v. 5.3

[97tahoe]

I was looking online at an 07 Tahoe with a 4.8l engine. I know most have 5.3 and I am wondering if that would be a noticeable difference as far as passing, etc.?

It is quite a drive to test drive so I thought I would ask your opinions before taking the trip.

I've heard on forums that the 4.8 is pretty weak. Best bet is to test drive.

My wife's Yukon has the 4.8 and I'm impressed with it. It does the job moving that heavy sucker. I can't say how it does towing since we don't use it to tow. I'm a Corvette guy so I'm used to having good performance.

The difference in the HP and Torque numbers between the 4.8 and the 5.3 is not a lot.

but consider the 5.3 is more powerful and with the active fuel management it actually gets better MPG....that made my choice pretty easy
