Hey guys, quick question...

Is anyone running a leveling kit with 22s? I keep going back and forth on what size tires to get, and wanted to know if i could clear 305/45/22 on a 9.5 inch rim with a +18 offset. I'd like to go with the 305/45 rather than the 305/40 to get a little more rubber between me and the road. Most of the tires i'm looking at say a 305/45 is about 32.8 inches tall, which is about what all the leveling kits claim... 'fits up to 33.' So will i need to run a leveling kit to clear these?

thanks in advance

I couldn't get your link to work so here is a new one.

I think these will look great on a black tahoe and I considered getting black rims myself, but it is my wifes daily driver and she thinks they look to gangster all blacked out. Oh well! I run 305/50/20's and they run a hair over 32 inches and I only had minor rubbing at full lock left. It was any easy fix though, it was only rubbing one of the clips holding the liner on. I just took it off. You might run into issues with the extra .7 of an inch. It really is only .35 in either direction. You might have some slight rubbing at full lock, but that extra sidewall might be benificial when cruising over rough roads. I am not sure what my offset is, but I think it is close to what the factory rims came with.

Wow! These are the wheels I wanted too for my Z71. I was looking at going with 305/40, but if 305/45 will work and provide more rubber, I am all for that.

ucsbguy19, have you decided what you will go with?

I haven't decided for sure yet... half of me wants to throw some 22s and street tires on it, and half of me wants to put a Rancho 4" lift and 33" BFGs on it...

I've seen a few of each crusing around, and they both look great. Anything you do to these things, it looks great.

I think i need another Hoe so i can have the best of both worlds.

Despite the fact that I bought a Z71, I think I'm still going the 22 inches and street tire route, perhaps with a very resonable 1 to 2 inch drop. In my opinion, the Z71 looks the best inside and out with the 2-tone interior and killer front facia.

Yeah, i love the Z71 too, but i couldn't justify the extra $$$. I was able to get a GREAT deal (about 3k below invoice plus 0% financing) on my LT2 because it was one of the 'one at this price' trucks, but had everything i was looking for except the Z71 package.

I know i'm all over the board here, but do you guys think a 18x9 with a +18 offset would fit with 285/65/18 BFG ATs? I really like the look of the XD Series Monsters. According to the wheel offset calculators i was using, i'd have 6mm less inner clearance, but would stick out an extra 32mm. I don't want the wheels to stick out too far and look funny, and its hard to try to visualize an extra 1 1/4 inches...

VadersOwn, I couldn't agree with you more, I mainly got the Z71 due to the interior. I hated that ugly wood in the LTs and LTZs.

FWIW....I'm running AR Octane 22s (+30) with the 305/45-22 tires and have ZERO rubbing or clearance issues with no leveling kit on my '07 Denali.

why not run the rancho kit on some 22s and some all terrain 33s? some sizes i found that might work is a nitto terra grap 285/50/22 (33x11) or 285/55/22 (34x11)

That was also my original plan actually...but after living with my Hummer H2 with 37s the wife requested this vehicle be a little more user friendly since it'll be the primary family hauler. The H2 needed over 7' of clearance so 90% of the parking garages in Boston were out and the hum from those 37's made the ride less than smooth and quiet.

In contrast, the Denali XL with autoride, 22" street tires and the sweet 6.2/6-speed is a long haul luxury liner. I can't hop curbs or venture off road anymore but the Denali hauls ass and is way more friendly on road.

Plus I think the Denalis (especially the XL) are more of a road car versus the tahoes and surburbans anyway...and I'm not sure a lifted, agressive tire'd Denali would look quite right. Kinda like lifting and putting mudders on an Escalade...never seen it done and I'm not sure it would look right in the end. Just seems wrong.

The Denali is my touring car for now...I'll get another H2 in 09 though...I do miss it so...

If money were no object, that would be the perfect setup... but i don't have 4-5+ grand to spend on a lift and wheels/tires... My budget (for now) is about 2k for my first round of mods. I was able to find the AR Trenchs with tires for 1700. I'd like to be able to throw some deeper tint on the windows too, so there's my 2k spent.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you spend total on your setup?

well the 285/50/22s should fit on just a leveling kit if your wheels dont stick out to far which i know the trenches tuck in well. but 1700 is a pretty good deal since the wheels themselves run about 325 each from what ive been seeing. what tires did u end up going with?

my lift/wheels/tires/installed was about 7grand.

I haven't bought them yet, but the quote was on the Trench 22's at $221 each, and toyo proxes ST's at $189 each, with free mounting and balancing.

BTW, your ride is AWESOME, thats one of the best looking 07+ that i've seen.

The other negative of going with a big lift is that i drive 70 miles rountrip to work every day, in lotf of stop and go freeway madness. I know going with bigger rims will hurt my MPG, but a lift would probably destroy it.

Once i get the wheels, i was going to get a custom tune from Black Bear Perfromance and a new exhaust setup. I was thinking CAI, but the stock one seems to flow a pretty decent amount of air.

that sounds like an awesome deal on those wheels and tires. yes going with larger tires and heavier wheels will decrease ur mpg...but honestly going with a 33 isnt going to hurt it much...i would think the intake/exhuast/programmer would gain it back for you.

ive heard many good things about justins work...i plan on getting one for mine once i decide if im going to add any other mods before i get him to make me a tune.

I've heard nothing but good things too... i just want to make sure i have everything done before i get the tune so he can take into account bigger wheels/exhaust/etc.

Maybe i'll find a second job so i can afford a lift and the extra gas $$

rimexperts.com has the 22" Trench for $189.99 ea. I shopped around last week and they had the best price I could find. They also say they'll beat any lower advertised price you can find. I'm gonna get me a set in the next few weeks.
