Hi!

Like others I am experiencing problems with the stock battery. It works most of the time but not everytime though :-(.

Instead of changing it I want to know if it is wise to install just a second one. The 2nd battery bay is completely free so this should be no problem. But how to connect? Anybody already did this?

Thanks!
Jim

Have you taken it to the dealer to see if the battery rundown problem has been taken care of on your truck? If you have that rundown bug, the same thing will happen to an additional battery if you add one.

Not yet. Would be a bit too far and wet from Europe to the US :D

Also it happened only two times. I think it is the radio spinning a CD. With a 2nd battery it may spin a bit longer :)

Presumably there is somewhere over there that handles GM vehicles...take it there and have them get you the update. Anyway if you really want to do the 2nd battery upgrade there is a good tutorial in the 2006 section on how to do it. It is easier with the 07+ models as we have a free tray.

Excuse my ignorance...what is the battery rundown problem or where can I find info? I have had it happen to me a handful of times for no apparent reason.

There was a bug in the pcm on the early tahoes where the battery would keep dying for no apparent reason. Just take it to the dealer and have them update your computer.

I have HID's and a high powered stereo system. I just replaced the stock battery with a Optima yellow top. You might want to just start with replacing the crappy factory battery.
