Ok here's the thing.. Before you judge and be like hell naw. I'll never by no wheels from a pawnshop. I though the same thing.. So anyway Im at my local pawn shop here in H-Town. Looking for a PS3 controller and I look down the aisle and I saw some 24" wheels tucked away at the bottom shelf. When I pulled them out I was like DAAAANNNNGGGGGG.. I dont cuss so thats the closest word I can use. They we literally brand new. No scraps on the wheels as if someone brushed against the curb, no nothing. No marks, dents, nothing. A couple of smears on it but thats it. So I ask the guy how much for the tires and he tell me $1000. I was just talking to some lady who upgraded her Silverado rims to 24" and she was going to sell me her 20" factory wheels for $900. So my problem is this, what's the advantages and disadvantages of getting 24". I know that Im going to need the some tires as well since he was only selling the wheel. How much do tires run on 24" wheels. So because Im lame here are a couple questions I have for you guys..

How are 24" going to...

overall drive of my tahoe?
effect my gas mileage?
effect my brakes...

Well i dont have 24's but from what i know it might stiffen up your ride, you could possibly have problems with the tires rubbing against your wheel wells, gas mileage would decrease a little, and braking would be more sluggish as the rims would weigh a bit more than what you have now

Get the 20s but offer $800, they're going for pretty cheap on craigslist and such.

I love the way 24's look and almost got a set, but I knew I'd be crying everytime I went to get new tires. , so that's why I chose 22's. You might be able to find some tires on Ebay for under $1000, but they won't be anything great. I don't know if I'd feel safe rolling 24's with the stock breaks either. I know people do it, but that's a lot of rolling mass for the stockers to brake.

Yeah I though about that as well... That was one of my main concerns.. But I wonder if I can buy them then turn around and flipped them for some 22"

With the 24's, you're looking at increased fuel consumption, accelerated wear on steering components, and more effort needed to stop. I didn't get any rubbing with my 24's when I had my truck at stock height. And even with my drop, I get very minimal rubbing. But that's going to depend on the offset/backspacing of the wheels and tire size. Ride quality won't degrade much. You'll feel a little more stiffness, but not much.
Tires aren't cheap. Mine were $420 ea when I first bought them. Cheap but decent tires will run you roughly at least $300 and up per tire, easily.

$1000 is a good deal, but not a great deal on those rims, depending on brand and such. You can easily get a descent set of used 22's for that or less. Seems like it would be more work than it's really worth. If you want 24's, I say get them and use them. If not, go a different direction.

Im guess my mine concern is getting my tahoe up to speed where it can actually handle 24"... Espcially stuff like brakes, and tires.. Im guessing once I buy them I might need another 600 to actually put them on the road. Then another 100 for tint, and maybe 200 for a piece... Lord Im starting to think if its really worth it..

It's probably more like $600x2 at the minimum to get you rolling. If you're really price sensitive, this probably isn't the way to go.

I'd be wondering if they're true.. If they are there there is probably something wrong with one or more of them or they're :shhh:STOLEN :shhh:...... I'm assuming they've had tires on 'em at one point.. You can get a set of nice 24's on ebay with tires for about 2k in like new condition and with free shipping.

I know someone in Ca. who owns a wheel shop and people everyday buy wheels and a few days later realize they wanted different or bigger and they exchange at a loss and he resells the used wheels cheap.

These are just a couple of the many sets for example:

I wanted 24's but I went conservitive with 18's off an escalade and I ordered Nitto NT404's. Problem with the 24's it attracts alot of attention to a certain group I like to refer to as Lazy lowlife scum bags that prey on the people that like the better things in life. Heck, maybe thats how they got to the pawnshop in the 1st place.
Thieves are lioke birds, they are attracted to shinny things then they crap on you

Thats even for the guys who have 22" though.. Ive seen some old ladies ride around on 22"s w/o tint on there Denali's and Im not saying they would be a easier target than I would but still. Anytime you have something nice someone is going to hate on you regardless. But I feel that Im not going to minimize my living conditions because, Im worried over a silly-thug. But Im not going to ride around all flamboyant and stunt on people either.

Way I see it you only live once and I've always gone out and got what I wanted as long as I could afford it.. I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute if everything and although I've been victimized by thieves I refuse to give into not being able to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Tell you what though I will not be an easy target next time any lowlife wants to take my shiat. I got a surprise for 'em.. Let them come..

If you want to roll 24's by all means DO IT!!! If you want to roll stock or whatever it's your choice but don't let some thug or the though of someone jacking your stuff scare you. Do the best you can to protect it and enjoy it. For all you know you/I or anyone of us might not be here tomorrow and then what..
