When I bought my 2008 Yukon XL new in 2008, the parking assist function was a series of increasing beeps as well as the yellow, orange, red lights mounted on rear interior as I backed up closer to the object. I recently had a fender bender where the entire rear bumper, sensors, and apparently the sensor module were replaced. Now I have a single beep when I put the car in reverse and yellow, orange, and red lights instead of the increased beeps. According to GM, the dealership, and my owners manual, this is the way it is supposed to work, so they won't/can't do anything.

I know that the newer models (2010 and later??) have the increasing beeps, so I know it is possible. I/we don't know how/why it worked this way when I bought the vehicle (contrary to the owners manual), but I REALLY like this feature.

Can anyone help? I suspect it might be microcode/dip switch setting in the module. The dealership says that I'm at the most current microcode for the vehicle. I have escalated to GM Customer Care, but no help. I feel that this is a safety issue, and once you have had something like this, it's hard to take it away.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey man I'm brand new to the forum, have had my 07 Tahoe for about a year now, but with my parking assist it does both the lights in the rear and beeps more rapidly as I get closer to the object. Sounds like the stealership doesn't know what they are talking about, and don't want to try and diagnose it. I would try a different dealership and see what they have to say about it. Cause I believe they are supposed to do both from 07 and up.

Hope this helps some!

My 07 Tahoe's park assist stopped working after I got a new deck. Do you need a special wiring harness? or did they bump something loose when installing it?

Aftermarket deck or another oem? I'm not sure if it's connected to the same wiring harness or not, I haven't ever had to take mine out to look under there. I would take it to the place that installed it anyway and say it was working before they installed it and now it's not see if they can just fix it. They should do it for free since they are the ones who broke it haha good luck!
