I know the 4WD issue on these GM's is pretty prevelant and have seen lots of questions. I'm at the point a mechanic looked at it and told me that the TCCM or transfer case control module needs to be replaced to fix it. They quoted me $600 for the part and another $100 to put it in. I'm plenty capable of installing the part as I found it under the dash tonight and figure at most it will take a half hour to replace it. My problem is I have the GM part # off mine and want to find a cheaper one online, used or just from a cheaper source but I can't find any with the part # mine shows. Any one have any ideas if I need to cross reference it to a different part. I'm just scared to buy one from say a 2008 with a different part # and then it doesn't work. The part # on mine is GM 24237151.
Just a side note as well. I've read alot of forums about this issue others have had and there seems to be a trend in alot of people having this issue coming up after a dead battery and putting a charger or jumping. Maybe there isn't a correlation but mine started acting up after I had battery issues as well so I'm just bringing it up to say be careful if your putting a charger on it, that it may corrupt this TCCM. Maybe just unhook the cable on the battery before charging.
