Hi there, new member looking for help from fellow owners! I searched and found a couple of posts first. I have a few issues I'll list below. I am looking for fix recommendations that I can do myself or if you suggest a dealer visit is in order. I have a 2004 GMC Yukon 4WD SLT with the 5.3 and 49K on the odo. I bought it new.

1) speedo- bounces around @ 70MPH. I saw the post on the recall/lawsuit. Does this decription apply? Should I expect a fix out of warranty at no charge?

2) fuel guage- the wife says that she has filled up 2x and both times it stops prematurely and won't let her add more. It shows only 3/4 full aftwer this. Also, the fuel indicator gauge seems to be inconsistent reading 1/2 full, them 1/4 and then 3/4. I experienced this myself when I got the low indicator lite and then suddenly had 1/3 tank showing. thoughts/experiences? Is there a known fix for this?

3) climate control- I have the dual zone green digital type. sometimes the passenger side blows hot when the drivers side is cold with A/C on. Both sides show a/c on and low temp selected. If I shot it off completely once or twice it goes away. Should I replace the panel with a used or new one? Anyone else experience this? How can I diagnose the problem or is this known issue?

4) gear selector on dash- sometimes OD is indicated but it is not in OD. On occasion I have had to bump the arm a bit to get it to go into OD and sometimes I have overshot it into neutral! I worry about accidently hitting reverse but assume the lockout would catch it before. I have had it in 2x to the dealer to repair and still it persists. I searched and saw a TSB on 2005 and up but nothing on 04. Thoughts/suggestions?

Sorry for the long post but describing more has helped on my other forum.
Best,
DH

This is the only one I can maybe point you in the right direction. Have a look in this thread.

Something to look at until the guys who know these things can answer the other questions.

Good luck getting these things diagnosed.

Did both fillups occur at the same gas station? I've encountered gas stations where the pump shutoff was defective, and consistently so.

No. They were filled up elsewhere. I know what you are talking about though. There is a station nearby that automatically shuts off @ $50 if you pay with a credit card. Silly if you ask me since I usually don't take the time to fill the rest.

Yeah I get that all the time in the Tahoe - most gas stations click off at exactly $75. But if it's clicking off not on a round number, then it may be something wrong with either the automatic shutoff on the gas pump itself or maybe the purge control system on the car.

Well issue #1 is resolved. The dealer replaced my 04 cluster with just over 50K @ NO CHARGE! They suggest it may resolve my fuel guage issue # 2 as well. Time will tell. Thanks to all.

My S-10 has the same fuel gauge issue. If the cluster fixes it, maybe that's my problem. I thought it was the sending unit at the tank.

I occasionally have the same fuel-gauge issue. I posted a couple of months ago about it and was told that it may be an indicator that the fuel pump (?) is going bad...not good news. But, per advice here, my husband added the cleaner additive and it has really done the trick for now. The only issue I have now is when I park in my friend's very steep driveway...but I know better than to do that now.

Good luck!

OK 65K on the truck now and we have the fuel fillup and guage issue again. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the cluster again. Problem goes away but now it is back. I suspect this is a connection at the sender in the tank or the sending unit itself after searching and reading details from others. Should I just have the dealer replace the pump/sending unit? Any other suggestions?

Now on the climate control, it only blows out of the defrost ducts and not the floor or dash. I assume this is an actuator problem. Anyone have advice on this one? In the past turning on/off the system usually fixed the hot/cold problem.

Thanks for your suggestions!
