Hey guys, I have an 02 tahoe lt with the 5.3l 4wd. The truck has 158k on it and bought it a few months ago. The trans shifts really hard or slides into second on light throttle applications depending on the trucks mood. The truck shifts all gears on its own so trans isn't totally toast yet lol. The thing that is the biggest issue is the way truck down shifts. If I just go from a light normally and the truck shifts into say third at 25 mph and I try to kick it down to second it won't downshift unless I floor it can't ease down to get it down and then it kicks down hard then it will shift real hard back into gear. The motor has no codes, I did the knock sensors, truck has great power. Is there a way to adjust the TV cable?

There is not a tv cable on the 4l60E. Your tranny needs rebuilt. Once slipping starts its too late. The damage has been done. Its just a matter of time until NO GO!

Sounds like you have pressure shift solenoid sticking, Tranny isnt toast, doesnt always work but try a transmission fluid exchange have em hook up the maching that takes all 15 quarts out and put in new fluid, dont know if and when you had it done but if you havnt transmission fluid has detergents in it that can sometimes free up a sticky pressure shift solenoid. However does NOT sound like a Toasted Tranny

His clutches have been slipping and are being burnt everytime this happens. His tranny will live a short a life. At the very least the pan needs to be dropped along with the valve body and inspected for the cause of the failure to shift correctly. If you think for one minute everything is fine with clutches slipping like they are as long as they are then you go ahead and try it with your tahoe and see how long the tranny lasts.

Raiderron, Lesterl, Cover me, I'm going in, Wooo Bro, easy there, I'm not here to have a battle of the witts or to try and take away anyones glory, just here to help, only I may have missed the post of where he said it was slipping and burning up clutches, all I see is hard shifting and every now and then gliding into 2nd gear,or Harsh 1-2 Shift at Light Throttle, this is where you would need to go of the first suggestion doenst work most likely will need a New 1-2 Accumulator Valve Kit GM P/N 24255821.also will want to Replace the coiled spring pin and the 1-2 accumulator valve sleeve, AGAIN The tranny ISN'T TOAST.. just may need some minor repars. Oh and fyi, I dont have a Tahoe, I have a Time Machine

The OP said his tahoe is "sliding into 2nd". What do you think those clutches are doing during all that "sliding"? They are being burnt. Check fluid and you will find that it is no longer pink and smells burnt.
