Hello guys and gal. I have a question about the sunroof in my 2002 Z71 Tahoe. Last night while driving in the beautiful Oregon evening weather, I had my sunroof full open. When I went to close it, the sunroof got an inch or so away from the sealed position and stopped. At this point, I could move the sunroof all the open again with no problem. But when I went to close it, it once again returned to just about an inch away from being closed.

Out of frustration I grabbed that factory metal sun deflector that pops up when the sunroof opens and wiggled it around thinking that this might be the culprit. As I was doing this, I literally ripped that whole metal sun deflector off. So now I have a broken sunroof deflector.

I have tried the whole remove the battery and re synchronize the sunroof motor. This has not helped at all. I can hear the motor trying to work, so I think the motor is fine.

I have an appointment tomorrow with a mechanic to look at it. But my question is what exactly is that metal deflector called that is in the sunroof area. I need to buy a new one and do not want to pay the marked up mechanics price for one. So I figured if I bought one, I could just have him install it. However, I CANNOT find it anywhere on the internet. I have tried every keyword and the only thing that keep popping up are the aftermarket plastic ones that go on top of the roof. Sorry for the log post. Thanks for any help. I hope this makes sense. Ken
