Hey, I have search many forums and websites looking for information on a 2000 Yukon XL with a 5.3l engine that is "starving for fuel". This has manifested as intermittently delayed shift. Meaning that the transmission delays shifting so that it sounds and feels like the transmission is slipping.

I took it to a both a dealer and a transmission shop and both say the trans is strong that it appears to be a engine problem.

There are no codes at this time. I can force a code when I floor the gas when this issue happens but I don't remember the code at the moment.

I have replaced the fuel filter 3 times, the fuel pump once, and when the pump was done we verified that the tank was clean.

The plugs have been replaced, wires have not.

This is intermittent. Meaning that it does not happen all the time, but it is just annoying and I would like to fix it.

I suspect that fixing the issue would also help my MPG, maybe just a hope. :)

My questions are these.

1) Have any of you experienced this?

2) I am considering that it COULD be an Injector issue. Code 0300 comes to mind. Any thoughts?

3) Along those lines have any of you use one of the many Injector rebuild services? Did it help your issue? Who did you use? Would you use them again?

Thanks for any help and assistance you could provide.

Just some ideas, but if your model is TAC equipped (no throttle cable, which was available on 00-up models) look into the tps motor, tps sensor, and acc pedal position sensor. Have the injectors flow tested also to make sure they exhibit proper fuel spray patterns.

fuel starving....

wassup... i had a similary problem with my 99 tahoe.... when i had this problem, for example when taking off,,, it would hesitate and then it would take off, if i mash the pedal down to the floor, the engine would rev up but it felt like if it did not have much power.... i also felt like the transmission was slipping if i mashed the pedal, many of the times the code would not pop up, until i push the pedal pretty hard and then the SES came on.... the code pointed to the MAF. The scanner said that the MAF was 'Out of Range' and other codes as well but it was related to the MAF.. so finally my mechanic replace the MAF and problem solved.... no more hesitation.... no more transmission slipping- firm shifts now, and best of all,, full power! just sharing my story:cool2: best wishes.
