2000 tahoe cap and rotor help

First time poster here. I just got robbed at a mechanic that diagnosed a coolant leak as a bad intake gasket and charged me 600 to replace and flush the coolant and the gasket. They told me I need a new cap, rotor, wireset and plugs and pcv. They quoted me 500 dollars for this because of some expensive type of plugs and cap. I went to rockauto.com and priced it at 150 for parts. Is there any trick to getting to the plugs and cap. It just looks like I need to remove the box located over the cap and rotor and then move a few hoses. Am I getting in over my head, or is it that easy. Thanks for the help.

I just changed plugs, wires, and fuel filter on my 01 for $117. Granted I got the $5 bosch platinum plugs, which I shouldnt have (multiple electrodes are a joke, if you knew anything about electricity you would understand) but whatever, i bought them anyway. I bought a $50 set of plug wires from autozone, just a daily driver, not a Fing race car. You have coil packs on your tahoe, not a traditional distributor/cap/rotor style ignition. Unless its hidden in the engine somewhere that I didn't see...............

the hardest plug to change is the back side of the passenger side. All 7 others are a piece of cake to get to, and even that last one isnt hard, its just a difficult angle so small/skinny hands/arms are a plus, but its pretty easy. took me 20 minutes to change everything out.

Thanks for the help. When I put my info in the parts lookup on Rockauto, it did give me parts for a distributor cap / rotor combo. The cap looked mostly flat like a frisbee with four ports on each side. It looks like it is located about dead center in the back of the engine compartment under the windshield.

Typical chevy v8, distributor in the back of the engine instead of the front like fords I will have to look into that. 196k miles im sure the "cap and rotor" would need replaced.
