Hey fellas, so few days ago my battery was dead in 08 Tahoe. Boosted it off another truck and when it started the "service 4wd" light came on. Driving home Tahoe all over the snowy/icy roads. She's stuck in 2wd. Shortly after a check engine light appeared.
From my googling it looks like the position sensor in the encoder motor, the encoder motor itself, or the transfer case control module.
I pulled battery cable yesterday (I know a long shot!) the check engine light disappeared for now. I crawled under Tahoe in garage and cannot see this encoder motor on transfer case like all pics I have been seeing. I think I found it but may be something different. What I see is a cylindrical piece " made by bosch. Has 4 torx bolts holding it to end of transfer case. All pics and read ups I read it's on side where front drive shaft be in the way. Not in this Tahoe. Not that I seen anyways. Possibly that's pre 07 models? Anyways looks like there are 2 electrical harnesses on this one I'm looking at. Real pain to get at laying in cold concrete.
I can't get in to my dealer for almost a month. Busy place. Maybee they could get me in too pull codes, reflash ECM and tccm.
This obviously looks to be electrical problem as it happened after dead battery and a boost from another truck to get it going.
Could it be as simple as a reflash from dealer?
